((OOC: 1 Harvestmere - at the wedding reception - Kiley Daire))
Alec was having more fun at his sister's wedding than he ever could have imagined. There was lots of food, drinks, even the music was decent and he'd found that even the snobby types were drinking enough to be somewhat friendly to the new teyrna's commoner brother.
He'd lost track of Brecken for the time being, and he didn't want to spend all night with Ma and Da so Alec started moving around the ballroom and doing what he did best.
Watching, and listening.
Even with all that whiskey in his belly, and nice warm feeling buzzing around him like the heat of a campfire, he had his wits about him. More than some of the other people at the reception, anyway. Alec found a spot near a wall, and leaned his head back against it with his arms crossed over his chest. Someone was bound to come over and start talking in front of little nobody Alec sooner or later.
Then, someone caught his eye. A pretty face. A familiar pretty face that he hadn't seen in a number of years.
Kiley Daire, the bann's daughter who'd led him through an adventure at her estate. She was dressed in a pretty gown of dark mauve with thin straps. He would have approached her but... wait, she had a twin sister, didn't she? Shit. He wasn't sure if Kiley's sister knew about what they had done.
So, Alec held back and waited to see if Kiley - if that was her - noticed him instead.

The night had been going well so far. While Kenneth had duties to attend, she mingled with the rest of the guests of the wedding. Some she was familiar with of course, people she had met at other parties, even a few lords she had been placed in front of before who now had pretty wives at their side.
She had picked up a glass of wine somewhere, and took her time sipping at her, smiling and being cordial. She had made a promise to herself to be on her best behavior. Partly because her sister was here, and it would give the impression that her twin had some control over her, and partly because she wanted to present herself as a proper partner for her paramour.
Needing a moment to herself, she slipped towards a quieter corner of the large room -- though no corner was truly quiet with the sound of music and conversation all around. She paused when she saw someone that looked remarkably familiar. A face that didn’t quite seem to be a noble she had met before, and she cocked her head to the side as she approached him.
Maker, it was that young man she had dragged through their estate in Hafter’s Bend all those years ago. It took her a moment, and she still wasn’t sure if what she was about to say was correct, but she had never been truly shy, “Alec?”
The query left her lips and a familiar smirk spread across them, “I don’t see Lucky, so maybe I’m wrong?"
Not that she thought they would allow a wolf, no matter how tame, inside the wedding reception. Still, it was odd seeing him without the companion. If it in fact was him.

It didn't take long before the woman who Alec might have run around with looked in his direction. While Alec mulled over whether that was Kiley or her twin sister, Maybe Kiley looked around the room and her eyes fell on Alec. She seemed to recognize him as she looked. "Alec?" she asked, a smirk spreading across her face. "I don't see Lucky, so maybe I'm wrong?"
"My sister'd kill me if I brought a wolf to her wedding," Alec replied, cocking his head to the side. "Hello, Kiley," he said with a cheeky grin. "Or should I say, milady? Haven't seen you since... well, since we knocked your poor guard in a big pile of horseshit."
And then spent a good amount of time snogging afterwards, but that didn't need to be repeated around so many curious eavesdroppers. He was glad to see a familiar face, especially a pretty one who'd given him a decent thrill. At any rate, Alec was glad he was dressed up in the fancy clothes his sister's attendants had fitted him with.
"D'ya want to take a walk?" he asked, unsure if she had anyone waiting on her.

"My sister'd kill me if I brought a wolf to her wedding. Hello, Kiley," Maker, he might have been a little older but he still had that boyish grin she found endearing. "Or should I say, milady? Haven't seen you since... well, since we knocked your poor guard in a big pile of horseshit."
She laughed, covering her mouth as she did so. Best to show a little decorum at a wedding. Then her eyes widened a little. He had said his sister’s wedding. No wonder Kahrin Quirke had sounded familiar. She had been wracking her brain for months and now, here was the answer why.
“Maker, how did I not connect that Kahrin was that Kahrin?” she said aloud, mostly to herself before turning her eyes back to him. “You can just call me Kiley, I think our past adventure has earned us standing down from formalities, don’t you? And yes, poor Clifton. He’s around here somewhere and decidedly less drunk than the last time you saw him.”
"D'ya want to take a walk?" he asked, and she nodded, holding out her arm to him.
“I’d love to. My companion for the evening is currently occupied and your company will definitely be much better than some of the other guests in attendance I’m sure.” This particular encounter likely wouldn’t end like their last one. But it would be nice to speak with someone who knew her before everything went to hell in a hand basket. She wouldn’t have to put on airs for Alec. At least, she hoped not.
“Lucky must be terribly put out, unless you’ve gotten a friend for her since we last saw one another? I bet she’s much bigger now.” The wolf had scared her at first, but after Alec had showed up things had diffused.

“Maker, how did I not connect that Kahrin was that Kahrin?” Kiley said aloud, which made Alec feel a little measure of pride since she'd remembered enough about him to be familiar. “You can just call me Kiley, I think our past adventure has earned us standing down from formalities, don’t you? And yes, poor Clifton. He’s around here somewhere and decidedly less drunk than the last time you saw him.”
Alec glanced around the room. "Shit, do you think he'd recognize me?" he asked, raising his brows slightly. He wasn't sure Clifton would really remember anything from that day except probably the smell of horse shit. He asked Kiley if she'd like to take a walk with him and she held out her arm.
“I’d love to," she replied. "My companion for the evening is currently occupied and your company will definitely be much better than some of the other guests in attendance I’m sure.”
Alec hooked his arm with hers like he'd seen other men doing throughout the night. "I didn't come with anybody 'cept my family," he said. "Haven't seen my brother in awhile. So he's probably somewhere getting himself into trouble." He flashed Kiley a grin.
“Lucky must be terribly put out, unless you’ve gotten a friend for her since we last saw one another? I bet she’s much bigger now.”
"She's not sure what to think of this big castle, that's for sure," Alec replied. "I'll have to get her out into the woods to run around a bit soon. We're both goin' more than a little stir crazy." He shrugged. "She ent much bigger than she was. I think she was the runt of the litter, so she didn't get so big as the rest of them. Not sure how she'd feel about a friend either," he chuckled. Lucky was shy around everyone except for him.
"So, what have you been up to for the past... oh... however many years?" Alec laughed. "I didn't figure I'd ever see you again."

When she mentioned Clifton, Alec looked worried, "Shit, do you think he'd recognize me?"
That made her laugh again, and she shook her head, “He’s mellowed out these days, doesn’t drink quite as much on duty. If he did recognize you he might say something, but I doubt he would be angry at you, Alec.”
What she almost said was he mellowed out once father died, and despite everything she and her sister had put him through, he stayed on with them. Besides she had gotten the full brunt of his tirade for putting him in the pile of dung that day. She took responsibility like a good girl that day, and didn’t mention Alec’s name at all.
"I didn't come with anybody 'cept my family," that charming grin of his flashed across his face and she almost wished she didn’t have a companion this evening. "Haven't seen my brother in awhile. So he's probably somewhere getting himself into trouble."
“Getting into trouble is always the most fun, isn’t it. Alas, I must be on better behavior tonight than when we had our adventure. I would not dare do anything to ruin your sister’s day, or reflect poorly upon my own sister at such an event.” Nor would she play up her reputation tonight. Whispers about her actually having a partner for the evening had already circulated through the regular gossip circles. Let them think that perhaps she had turned over a new leaf.
She asked about Lucky as they walked, and he seemed happy to speak of his companion, "She's not sure what to think of this big castle, that's for sure. I'll have to get her out into the woods to run around a bit soon. We're both goin' more than a little stir crazy. She ent much bigger than she was. I think she was the runt of the litter, so she didn't get so big as the rest of them. Not sure how she'd feel about a friend either."
“I can imagine the walls are a bit of an annoyance for her.” She said of the closed in space. “I’m surprised she didn’t grow much, but I’d still like to see her again someday. Maybe before I head back to Denerim?”
"So, what have you been up to for the past... oh... however many years?" Her laugh matched his, and she smiled wistfully. Those days seemed so far gone now, though it certainly hadn’t been that long ago. "I didn't figure I'd ever see you again."
“Maker, it’s been what, three years now I think?” She mused. “As for what I’ve been up to, not a great deal really. My sister and I ran off to the Free Marches for a few years. Came back earlier this year when our father died. Kiora took on the role of Bann, and here I am snobbing it up once more.”
She left a lot of what took them there out, but there was a lot that listening ears didn’t need to hear. She turned her eyes to his, her smile genuine, “I never say never about such things. I think it’s wonderful we have. We had a great time together.”
After a pause, she decided to ask her own question, “And what of you? How have you fared since we last saw one another?”
