All of her information had finally come together. From finding out where Rigby was staying, to his habits of travel while within the city, to the guard changeovers at the small estate he was sharing with his more well established cousin, Bann Milton.
She had spent time procuring information on him too, though the man covered his tracks well. Still, a well plied servant here, a temporary hireling there, and she knew that tonight would be the perfect night to strike. She stuck to rooftops, clad in her black leather armor and hood. The moon was thankfully a sliver in the sky tonight, making her journey much easier.
She reached the balcony she had scoped a few times when passing by the home, slipping onto it when the single patrol had made their way around the corner. She hunched for a brief moment, listening for sounds within the room the balcony led to. Silence save for the barking of dogs in the distance let her know it was safe for the moment.
It took a little longer than she wanted to get the latch undone from this side of the balcony doors, her tools almost too short to reach it properly. She made note to invest into some longer ones. Once the latch was handled, she slipped inside the dark office.
There was only a small flicker of light under the door, a hallway lantern likely. She paused where she had just entered, pulling out a small candle she could use to have enough light to read by. Its light was dim, but adequate, and she moved to the desk to begin her search.

The wicked never rest. Barely had Leliana set foot within Denerim following her visit to Kirkwall before her little network which stretched across the city - and beyond - had alerted her to the presence of a certain Bann Milton who was currently residing in his small city estate. In his company was his lesser titled cousin, a Rigby Spearman, but that was of little consequence to Leliana's investigations. No, her focus was solely upon the Bann and his apparent interference with Chantry matters.
She had made directly for the estate. The failing light of dusk obscured her entry into the grounds and from there, it was a simple matter of waiting for the right moment to slip by the patrolling guards and ease through an open window on the ground floor. No Bard skill required here. It was almost too easy - and that put Leliana on guard at once. Any Bann, much less one meddling in the coffers of the Chantry, would insist upon more security than this.
So rather than make directly for the office of Bann Milton, Leliana scoped around the estate. All was quiet. The evening wore on and there was the usual comings and goings of servants but nothing which would raise alarm in any respect. To all intents and purposes, there was nothing suspicious whatsoever about the goings on of Bann Milton. Yet another reason to be on alert. Only the guilty could truly presented as innocent.
Eventually, Leliana found herself outside the door of the study. No light revealed itself from beneath the door and yet something gave the Bard reason to pause. An instinct long-honed and implicitly trusted. Someone was in the study of the Bann. Perhaps welcomed, perhaps not. Who was to tell?
Affecting an accent common to those who resided in the south of the Bannorn, Leliana let loose a gentle curse and tried at the handle of the door, pretending to be a flustered servant who required access to the study. How the person inside responded to the interruption would tell her all she required to know about their identity.
"Maker, only the Bann would insist on papers being taken up to his study but forget that he had locked his door!" she lamented in her feigned accent. One hand rattled the handle while her other reached for her dagger... just in case. "He promised he'd kept it open!"
Cyn: No posts this weekend, sorry! It's D&D crunch time and I've gotta write half a campaign by noon tomorrow or I'm so very screwed
